Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
John 14:1-2 NIV
Recently the subject of heaven has been brought to the forefront of our minds as a result of several occasions. Just about every funeral that we attend, and that's a lot at our age, the pastor will often read John 14 to give comfort to those who are grieving the loss of their loved one. This scripture is a great passage of hope for those who have accepted Christ as their Savior. It gives hope because it tells of a better place where we wthat ill spend eternity without sickness, death, and problems. We will have a new body and will be with Jesus Christ and those we love who have gone before.
Today, Gail was visiting at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility and struck up a conversation with one of the residents. Gail told her she had tried to visit her last week, but she was in a deep sleep. Her response was she was so tired from having been in heaven the day before visiting with some friends. She said, "It was so wonderful as it was peaceful and everyone was happy." She also indicated that she was looking forward to the day she could be there eternally. This lady was convinced that she had spent a short time in heaven and that she was not dreaming.
Last Friday we went to see the movie, God's Not Dead, which was well done. During the previews of upcoming movies, they showed a trailer of a movie taken from the book, Heaven Is For Real. This is a story of a small boy who apparently had an experience in heaven when in surgery. What is so amazing is he saw his sister who his mother had lost in a miscarriage several years before. The boy had no knowledge of this miscarriage. He also said he saw his grandfather whom he had never met on earth. When his father showed the boy a younger picture of the grandfather, the boy said, "That's him."
After checking Amazon.com, there are several other books dealing with similar experiences such as the boy, mentioned previously, had. We were also amazed at the number of books written on the subject of heaven. It is certainly a topic that many people are thinking and/or talking about.
The above accounts we assume are true, but one thing for sure heaven is for real because God's Word says so. Each of us needs to be sure we are prepared for heaven.
Blessings and Encouragement,
Paul, Gail, Patsy, and Penny
